Rules: the passive

Formation: Subject + form of be + past participle (3rd verb form).
Simple Present: is/are + 3rd – The car is repaired.
Simple Past: was/were + 3rd – The car was repaired.
Present Perfect: has/have been + 3rd – has been repaired
Past Perfect: had been + 3rd – had been repaired
will-future: will be + 3rd – will be repaired
going-to-future: is/are going to be + 3rd – is going to be repaired
Modal verbs: modal + be + 3rd – must be repaired
Word order: The object of the active sentence becomes the subject: Shakespeare wrote Hamlet → Hamlet was written by Shakespeare.
by-agent: only mention when important; omit for somebody/someone/people.
Two objects: She gave me a book → I was given a book / A book was given to me.
