🐹 Believe in yourself – and let’s do this! 💪

Get ready for our test! Today you work with your STARK book (Prüfungsvorbereitung). Reading and Use of English are both part of our test – so let’s practise them step by step.

How many points can you get?

📖 30points for Reading
🔧 19points for Use of English

That is a lot of points – good practice really pays off!

Task 1 · Reading

✅ True / ❌ False / ❓ Not in the text – how to decide:

  • True: the text says the same – maybe with other words.
  • False: the text says the opposite or something different.
  • Not in the text: the text says nothing about it – don’t guess!

Task 2 · Use of English

Use of English is also part of our test. Here is how you practise:

Close your gaps – now is the moment!

🔴 Mark your problem areas. When a task (or a basic-knowledge topic) is really difficult for you, put a big red dot 🔴 or an exclamation mark ❗ next to it in your book. Then you know: “Here I have a gap – I must practise this again.”

⏰ Now is the moment to close your gaps – not the night before the test! Every gap you close now means more points later.

💻 Practise online – as often as you like

🤔 Stuck in a task? Try this:

  1. 📖 Read the task again. What exactly do you have to do? Look at the example – it shows you how.
  2. 🔎 Look at the words around the gap. What comes before and after it? Do you need a noun, a verb, an adjective or an adverb?
  3. ⏱️ Look for signal words like yesterday, since, already, next week – they tell you the tense.
  4. ❌ Cross out answers that are clearly wrong. Then choose from the rest.
  5. ⏭️ Don’t get stuck: mark the task, go on – and come back to it at the end.
  6. ✍️ Never leave a gap empty in the test – a good guess can still get a point.
  7. 💡 After checking with the solution book: find out why your answer was wrong. Look up the rule and try a similar task.

My results

How did it go?

Example: Reading pp. 32–36: 6 mistakes – true/false/not in the text was difficult. Use of English pp. 63–67: 4 mistakes – I need to practise word families.
