Great job โ€“ you did the AP 2022! ๐Ÿ’ช That was a real final exam from 2022. Now you work like real examiners: you check your exams together, find your points and your grade, and tell your teacher what helps you most. Every mistake you find today is one mistake less in your real exam!

๐Ÿค Step 1 ยท Find your partner

Group ATโœ๏ธ You check your own exam.
+
Group HN๐Ÿง‘โ€๐Ÿซ You are the correction coach โ€“ for everything!

One student from group AT works with one student from group HN. You keep your own exam โ€“ no swapping! The HN student helps the AT student with the correction: especially with Guided Writing, but also with counting the points and finding the mistakes.

  1. Reading, Use of English, Listening: compare your answers with the solutions and mark them with โœ“ or โœ—. Your coach helps you.
  2. Guided Writing: look for the five criteria below โ€“ your coach explains how many points you get and why.
  3. Count your points for every part together and check them twice.
  4. Talk about your mistakes โ€“ be kind and helpful! ๐Ÿ˜Š

โœ๏ธ Step 2 ยท Guided Writing โ€“ how to find your points

HN coaches: Explain why the text gets these points. AT students: Ask questions! You learn how examiners think โ€“ and that helps you in the real exam.

๐Ÿ“„ The official Guided Writing Rating Scale
from the ISB Bayern (PDF) โ€“ this is what the examiners use. Open it and check the text with it!

We donโ€™t correct every mistake. We only look for the criteria โ€“ they give you your points:

๐Ÿ”— Linking words โ€“ they connect your ideas

๐Ÿ’ก Top tip: Always take your linking words from the column โ€œComplex structuresโ€! They give you more points than and, but, so, because.

๐Ÿคฉ Wow words โ€“ make your text exciting

A wow word is a word that makes the examiner think: โ€œWow โ€“ this student knows this word!โ€ So replace simple words (good, bad, big, problem โ€ฆ) with better, less common words. This works with adjectives, verbs and nouns. Here are some examples:

๐ŸŽฏ Your goal: Try to use at least 3 to 5 wow words in your text โ€“ if you can!

โœจ Grammar structures โ€“ show what you can do

Use 1โ€“2 of these structures. Examiners love them!

โš ๏ธ Careful: Modal verbs (can, must, should, may โ€ฆ) are a simple structure. They are fine โ€“ but they are not wow grammar and donโ€™t give you extra points.

๐Ÿ” Text checker

Type (or copy) the Guided Writing text here โ€“ the checker counts the words and finds linking words and wow words.
